INITIATIVE FOR THE 30M € RESTITUTION TO A FAIR CAUSE.

INITIATIVE FOR THE 30M € RESTITUTION TO A FAIR CAUSE.

DOES BARCELO’S WORK AT THE UN REPRESENTS THE SPIRIT OF THE INSTITUTION.?

This is what the Spanish King said about the famous work which has been presented to the public. Unfortunately he is right and it shows the perversion of values.

First of all, 30 M € could help a lot of people in Congo, Sudan, Ethiopia and other parts of the world : famine, cholera, malaria, ethnic killings could be mitigated.

Secondly, the idea of recreating the marine caves and sea bottom is not very creative in itself. I rather prefer the real item than a synthetic copy. We should better take care of the deep ocean than make a delirious, expensive and megalomaniac dummy.

And how much does it cost to do it ? 35 Tn of coating at 3 €/kg at the most make 100.000 € far less than the amount of money mentioned above. And covering a surface with a compressor is not worth of such expense. The total operational costs (
Scaffolding , safety dresses, etc) could amount for an additional few thousand euros. So paying almost 30 M for a very dubious piece of work which shows so little creativity is offensive to say the least.

The more so when 500000 € have been paid by the Spanish Government. When criticized they have replied that this was demagogic. My question is how many people could keep their homes with this amount of money? Would they care for the sea ceiling or would they rather have a ceiling over their heads?

I heard a reporter saying that the same thing could be said about the Pope and his jewels that he does not donate them and everybody accepts it. He is right but two wrongs never make a right. So the Pope (and the Church ) are wrong because they do not follow their message (or rather Christ’s message) but I do not control the Church. On the other hand I am supposed to have a right to decide what should be done with my taxes and I do not want to contribute to a false marine bottom ceiling.

Some Spanish fundamentalists want a recognition for their country: Mr Zapatero and the G20 + 1 in Washington around King Arthur and the Round Table, now the UN stuff. As John Lennon put it “I ‘m sick and tired of schizophrenics , paranoids, prima donas …..”

If Mr Barceló wants to make a contribution to the humankind, if he wants to be remembered as somebody exceptional, he should donate all the money (less the expenses and a reasonable income) to a social cause. That would provide the whole true meaning to the Spanish King sentence about the UN spirit.

By the way, 35000 Kg of coating hanging on the ceiling will drop sooner or later so I would not go below the artwork just in case. I am sure that nobody would pay any compensation to injured people “because there are no funds available”.
