LETTER TO THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENTARIES

Dear Mr...

Thanks for your reply

The Catalan reaction is due to at least 11 reasons:

a) The €10000 M per year that the Spanish Government takes from us generating an 8% deficit  and the subsequent need to get  a loan from them paying an interest rate. THESE ARE PUBLIC FIGURES PUBLISHED AT LEAST FROM  2006.Hadn't the Spanish Governemnt deprived us from these funds we wouldn't have any debt.

b) Due to the mismanagement of the banking system, €60000 M have being used to save private banks increasing our public debt and generating cutbacks on health, salaries and social expenses.

c) Almost 800 Governemt officials of  the Spanish Governement have been accused  of embezzlement with very few resignations. Last month evidence related to the Gurthel case was misteriously destroyed in a fire in Valencia as you could check on the press

d) The forth reason is the propaganda and language used against us all over Spain which I had to suffer due to my job. Lies upon lies calling us scavengers, thiefs and worse things.

d)The next point  is the intent to limit the use of  Catalan as a language at schools creating a difference between Catalan and Valencian saying they are different languages. This is like saying that UK English and USA English are not  English.

e) The six factor is the use of the funds they collect from taxes. They build Fast  trains, airports and highways with no passangers and high deficits increasing the Public Debt. They assign contracts to companies which  get a compensation if the business goes bankrupt like THE HIGHWAYS IN MADRID OR THE CASTOR OIL

f)Adittionally, they DON'T INVEST ANYTHING IN CATALONIA. Even the small amount they promise to invest  they don't deliver year after year

g) When a Estatut WAS APPROVED  BY BOTH THE CATALAN AND SPANISH GOVERNMENT  in 2006 they trimmed it creating  great disatisfaction among the Catalan people.

h) The last 8 years we have tried to discuss with the Spanish Government how to reach a deal regarding financing and an accettable  deficit and they retorted with the  measures mentioned in point a).

i) When we asked for a referendum they denied us that right saying it's not legal. Any lawyer knows that it is feasible with a transitional provision.

j) And finnally they have  sent the police to beat  the people willing to vote if they want to get out of  this  dictatorship.

You know the difference between law and justice. Our situation is unfair and turning a blind eye to it doesn`t provide much credit to the European Union which desperately needs credit.

We Catalans deserve more support  from an institution which pretends to defend the rights of its members and it is just defending  unfair laws and repression.

Yours sincerely

Dr Jordi Delcor

 CATALONIA  NEEDS  THE EU INTERMEDIATION

We need the EU intermediation in Catalonia.

Dear Member of the European Parliament,

I am an European citizen who lives in Girona-Catalonia.

As a representative of the European people, I am writing to you to draw your attention and to ask for your support and help to defend human rights and democracy, attacked in Catalonia.

As you know, the last Sunday, 1 October, Spanish police forces hurt more than 900 citizens who tried to vote in peace and freedom. This police force used illegal weapons in a brutal way and attacked citizen rights in Europe.

We are highly concerned after the Spanish President, Mariano Rajoy, described this police action as “professional and moderate” avoiding any mediation in a political conflict.

You can see by yourself in this video from the BBC what President Rajoy says and thinks and what the reality looks like.
http://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-europe-41463955/catalonia-referendum-violence-as-police-block-voting

The problem will only get worse if it’s treated as an “internal issue of Spain”. Rajoy and the Spanish Government never have and never will dialogue with the Catalan Government if they are not moved to do it by international pressure.

The European Union appears to have a double standard regarding interventions. A few years back the European political leaders and institutions forced the Spanish Government and Parliament to change the Spanish Constitution due to economic reasons in a couple of days on the excuse of the European interest.

We are astonished that Europe political leaders and institutions are not willing to promote, even force, real dialogue and mediation when basic civil rights and democracy are at stake. The fear that other nationalistic outbreaks could occur in Europe does not justify support for this repressive attitude. Europeans perceive that democratic values and freedom are in danger while unfair decisions are taken.

We are aware of the difficulties that the European Union is facing now  with a lack of leadership, credibility and common vision. It is not only Catalonia which is at stake here. The future of the European Union itself is in great danger. The UK decision has had a traumatic effect on the influence and power of the EU and it could be worse if the Catalan problem is not properly fixed.

Democracy and respect on the Catalan people’ s will is in the interest of the European Union.

We need the EU intermediation to put an end to violence and move forward to a democratic solution.

The inaction of the EU in this escalation of violence and lack of democratic rights is hard to believe.

Please help us by talking to your national government or head of state, to the Commissioners or to the President of the Parliament.

Should you abandon us, do not be surprised by the growth of populism and disaffection towards politics and further disruption of the social order and your future speech will be just laments.

We only claim respect for our rights. The Catalan people only want to decide in peace and freedom.

TAKE ACTION AND HELP US NOW!
